Cover Story:

I came to know about "Kake Di Hatti" through a reel that my mom shared on Instagram. The food looked really tempting, but what really caught my eye was the huge Naan they were serving. Additionally, Kake Di Hatti is a vegetarian place and a very old restaurant chain from Delhi (I love Delhi food); the place got added to my subconscious immediately.

The Restaurant:

Initial impressions after entering the place were very nice. I could smell the masalas immediately upon entering. The ambiance is quite upscale and very well designed. I was expecting a more dhaba-style decor, yet it was not disappointing at all. It has actually been positioned as a Fine Dine restaurant. The place is big and spacious and probably could seat 120-150 people quite easily. They even have a PDR (Private Dining Room) that can seat 15-20 people and can be a good spot for family lunches or Kitty parties.

The Menu:

Oh!! This was quite exhausting. The menu of "Kake Di Hatti" itself weighed a ton. Probably more than the R.D. Sharma of school days. They serve both North Indian and Chinese food. The pricing is on the higher end but kind of fits in with the Fine Dining category where it's been positioned.

The Order:

Before we go in-detail, lets first jot down what we ordered along with the price.

Starters:
  • Dahi ke Kabab (5 pcs) - Rs 549

  • Kake Signature Paneer Tikka Roll - Rs 549

Main Course:
  • Amritsari Kulcha (Baby) - Rs 399

  • Hariyali Butter Naan (Nikka) - Rs 229

  • Tandoori Dal Makhni - Rs 649

Drink:
  • Lassi - Rs 259

The Food Review:

Let's dig in to the most important part of this blog. The food and the review. We will go one dish at a time. Let's begin:

  • Dahi ke Kabab: The portion size felt small. Yet, it was worth it. The size of the kabab was quite big and the taste was just amazing. I can clearly say that is the best Dahi ke Kabab I have ever had. The Kababs were literally melt in mouth and the seasoning was just perfect.

  • Kake Signature Paneer Tikka Roll: You can call this a Paneer Shawarma I guess which was cut in 5. Instead of a Rumali Roti, the Paneer Tikka was put on a Naan. The portion size for each piece was quite decent. The taste however was too good. The first taste was of the mustard oil (used in the marination), it was just sooo good. The naan was very soft and not stretchy at all. Both the starters were great and we were off to a great start.

***Before we get into the main course, let me give a brief introduction regarding their Naan.

The Naan served at Kake is quite big and come in 3 sizes. Nikka, Baby and Kake.***

  • Nikka serves 1-2 people (3 pcs after cutting)

  • Baby serves 2-3 people (5-6 pcs after cutting)

  • Kake serves 3-4 people (9-10 pcs after cutting)

Now let's get back to business.

  • Amritsari Kulcha: I can vouch for this Kulcha and say that this is the best Amritsari Kulcha ever. No thick edges, uniform filling and cooked to perfection. Not sure if a Kulcha can get better than this. My mom was like in another world altogether and she hasn't stopped raving about it till now.

  • Hariyali Butter Naan: Sounds like the normal Butter Naan with Coriander leaves? It was. But this again was one of the best ones ever. I felt like ditching the Dal Makhni and just enjoy the Butter Naan, it was that good.

  • Tandoori Dal Makhni: Perfectly cooked dal having the richness and at the same time that "saundhapan" of slow cooking that it needs. Dal Makhni was the perfect foil to go with the Naans. Normally its the other way round, but not today. Must commend that the quantity of the serving was too good.

  • Lassi: Last mein Lassi....well we ordered it midway itself and we were able to finish it off a sip at a time by the time we were done with the main course. The Lassi was thick, yummy but it was really heavy. We ordered 2 lassi, both 1/2 as well, yet it was too heavy to finish.

Final Verdict:

Ohh man, I got foodgasms after foodgasms here. Dil jeet liya Kake ne. Yeah, its pricey but totally worth it. Insane food, lip-smacking taste and good service to pair it with. Had one amazing experience at "Kake Di Hatti" and has now kept me reeling for more. I will surely return here again.
